Seagrass is a water plant that is often found in tropical oceans around the world. There are many areas where seagrass is protected by nature preserves or state laws. Though the seagrass has a purpose in the oceans, there are places where it might grow that can cause owners of the property grief or annoyance, especially in cases where it has been planted in personal gardens, such as a salt water aquatic garden, and has taken over the garden inadvertently.
Red algae is rare in freshwater. Belonging to the group Rhodophyta, the genus Batrachospermum is the best example of this filamentous variety of algae. Despite its name, red algae are not always red. It often appears purple, grey, green and black.
