The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services offers support before, during and after the adoption process. In order to adopt a child in Ohio, consent must be given by either the birth parent(s) or the agency that has legal custody of the child. It is illegal for any agency that receives federal funding to discriminate in any way during the adoption process under Ohio law. Married couples and singles, if they are deemed fit enough to raise a child, may adopt in Ohio.
