November 2010 data from Salary.com indicates that a title abstractor 's earnings range from $30,875 to $40,606 per year. Most abstractors earn between $33,241 and $38,335 yearly. Bonuses are less than 5 percent of a title's examiners earnings, and only two-thirds of examiners have health benefits, according to PayScale.com data from the same time frame.

PayScale November 2010 data reveals that an examiner with less than 10 years of experience earns about $45,000 at the upper end of the scale. Title abstractors with 10 to 19 years of experience can see a modest increase of pay, on the high end, to $47,740 per year. With 20 or more years of experience, an earnings will peak at $52,302.

Florida offers the highest income potential for title abstractors. The range for this state is $35,000 to $59,263 yearly. At the high end, this is 10 percent more than the runner-up state of Texas, with a range of $35,964 to $53,920. New York, with a high-density population, ended up in sixth place at $31,121 to $45,000 yearly.

PayScale data reveals that the maximum salary of a title examiner in these industries is around $60,000 per year. This contrasts greatly with a high-end average of about $46,000 yearly across other industries. Law firms tend to pay the least, at only $41,391 on the higher end.
Gender

Gender does play a role in a title abstractor's earnings. In a field where women outnumber men by almost 2-1, women earn approximately 10 percent less. PayScale data shows women title examiners earned only $30,591 to $45,066 compared with their male counterparts at $32,460 to $49,751 per year.
