Objectives
-
Along with providing college students with the funds to pay for their education, Wachovia Bank scholarships also allow the company to connect with the people in the communities where it does business. The scholarships also help needy students pursue particular degrees, such as the Wachovia Foundation Scholarship for the University of North Florida, which gives scholarships to education students with financial needs.
Types
-
Wachovia Bank and the Wachovia Foundation give away scholarships to high school seniors as well as enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. Many of Wachovia's scholarships are intended for students attending a specific school, including Bladen Community College and the Thomas Nelson Community College. Other scholarships are open to students attending any school, but specify that the student be associated with Wachovia, according to eNotes.

Features
-
Each Wachovia scholarship has a different award amount, which can vary from $500 for many of the community college scholarships up to $4,000 (as of 2010) for the Wachovia Dependents Scholarship. Some scholarships specify where the award money must go, and others allow the student to decide whether to put the money towards tuition, books or transportation. Along with merit- and need-based scholarships, Wachovia also offers scholarships to students who are active in extracurricular and community activities, such as the Virginia High School League Wachovia Citizenship Award.
Qualifications
-
Each scholarship comes with its own qualifications' requirements, but most of them require students to be enrolled full time and maintain a certain grade point average. Some have very specific qualifications, such as the Wachovia INROADS Internship Scholarship Program, which can only be awarded to a student who has completed the Wachovia INROADS Internship Program. Other qualifications include submitting an application, essay, proof of financial need and letters of recommendation.
Time Frame
-
The time frame for applying also differs from scholarship to scholarship. In general, scholarships are accepted between January and April, with awards handed out during the summer. The Wachovia Dependents Scholarship must be submitted by March 1, while the Wachovia INROADS Internship Scholarships needs to be turned in by February 15. Some awards, such as the Virginia High School League Wachovia Citizenship Award, have application deadlines as late as the end of May.
