Frugal Travel Clubs
A top-notch destination, luxury hotel or all-inclusive resort does not have to just be a dream for frugal shoppers. Travel websites use their vast networks to find and post the best deals on hotels, airfare and travel packages for their members. With memberships to these websites, savvy shoppers can book the vacations they want at a deep discount, quickly and easily.

Discount Travel Clubs
-
Jetsetter posts a sale on travel packages or hotel deals for five to seven days. The sales focus on a specific theme or destination, which the company rotates regularly throughout the year. To qualify for the discount rate, members need to book and purchase their trip within the five- to seven-day time frame. Vacationist offers discounts on luxury hotels and boutique inns. The company regularly posts limited-time deals on hotel packages that members can buy on a first come first served basis. Typically, the sales remain on the website for five to seven days. Tablet Hotels offers discounted rates and reviews on specialized and boutique hotels through the United States. Tablet Hotels uses a rating system to anonymously review every hotel it lists, as well as allowing members to submit their own ratings and reviews.
Travel Club Memberships
-
Discount travel clubs offer memberships on a limited basis. Jetsetter and Vacationist extend membership in two ways. Firstly, a current member can invite a new member to join the club. Otherwise, the new member must also be a member of their parent companies. Tablet Hotels allows anyone to become a member.

Travel Club Destinations
-
The destinations available through a discount travel club depend on the club's relationship with hotels, airlines and resorts. Most clubs offer major U.S. cities such as New York, New York, Las Vegas, Nevada and Miami, Florida, several times a year, as well as destinations in neighboring countries like the Caribbean Islands, Mexico and England. Since the travel club can only offer discounts it receives through other companies, not every destination will be available to members.
Travel Club Discounts
-
A major draw to joining a travel club is the discounts on hotel rooms, airfare and vacation packages members receive. For example, Jetsetter sales offer substantial discounts, which are typically 30 to 50 percent lower then other travel deal sites, according to the company's website. (See Reference 1) However, to qualify for any discount, members must book their trip through the travel club at the time of the sale. They cannot receive a discount unless the travel club lists a special on its website.
Travel Club Fees
-
There are no sign-up or membership fees to join most travel clubs. However, some clubs, such as Vacationist, require their members to also join a parent company unless they receive an invite from another member. Signing up for membership at the parent company may come with annual or monthly fees.
