Can NLP Help OCD?

Obsessive compulsive disorder, also known as OCD, is characterized by runaway thoughts and actions. These can vary from constantly pulling out hair, to obsessing over cleanliness, to constantly worrying about the door being locked. It is a terribly frustrating disorder that causes the person to go over and over the same compulsions over and over again. Neurolinguistic Programming, or NLP has been proven to reverse the underlying thought patterns that create this disorder.

  1. Symptoms of OCD

    • Most people who have OCD have thoughts that are constantly arising and won't go away no matter how much they want them to. There is constant need to do a particular action over and over. They might overly worry about germs, disease or safety. This could manifest as constant hand washing or house cleaning. They may Repeatedly check things, such as the door to make sure it is locked, because of chronic fear and doubt that can come even if you just locked the door two minutes ago. There may be a repeated movement, such as blinking eyes, tapping feet or moving head.

    What is NLP

    • NLP is a language-based alternative therapy that re-educates people to be more self-aware and in control of their thinking and behavior in order to change mental and emotional patterns. The NLP practitioner uses specific ways of speaking to help the person make these changes.

Be In Control of Your Mind Rather than Controlled by It

    • People with OCD are controlled by their minds, which make them worry and need to do a task to assuage the worries. The problem is that they don't feel better when they have done the task, so they have to do it again and again. NLP offers strategies to deal with these crippling thoughts so that the person can deal with them when they arise, and even become completely free of them. NLP gives the person a new way of thinking and feeling on an unconscious, deep level.

Will NLP and hypnosis really cure OCD?

    • While it is unprofessional to ever guarantee a cure, NLP has helped millions of people change unwanted patterns and has successfully helped many people with their OCD. NLP can help retrain the mind, break patterns and feel more positive about life. NLP is about helping people gain control of their life.

How long will it take to treat OCD with NLP?

    • The average time it takes to treat OCD with NOP is three to four hour-long sessions. Of course every individual is different, so results can vary. Some people have become free of OCD in fewer sessions, and some complicated cases need more. And there are people who might desire a few extra sessions to sort out underlying and related issues for maximum well-being.
