Education has a large number of purposes. A good education can give students the skills that they need to succeed in the workforce and can also build the student's conceptual understanding of the world. Instructional technology facilitators must be able to assess the technological needs of the classroom and the must help educators integrate new technology into their instructional curriculum, according to Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8. They must also be available for resolving issues regarding the technology, such as troubles with malware found on the computer networks.

The instructional technology facilitator must have a bachelor's degree and a teaching certificate. A degree in a technology related field, especially with a specialization in instructional technology, can also help the instructional technology facilitator find work. Many instructional facilitators need previous experience teaching students in demographic areas that are usually underserved, according to idealist.org. Educators with experience improving student literacy are also strongly desired. Skills that are needed across most instructional facilitator positions are communication skills and leadership skills.

Part of this growth is driven by population growth, but growth is also driven by increasing state standards placed upon educational programs.
