Specifications for the Glock 30SF
Glock Inc. has built a reputation for dependable and accurate 9mm handguns, and also makes .45 caliber pistols. The Glock 30SF (Short Frame) is a subcompact version of the standard Glock 30, one of the manufacturer's popular .45 caliber models. It is a semi-automatic pistol, which means it fires a single shot for each trigger pull, then automatically chambers a new round and is ready to shoot again.

Size
-
The Glock 30SF is 6.77 inches, 3.78 inches of which is the barrel. (The Glock 30, by comparison, has a 4.60-inch barrel.) The gun is 4.76 inches high and 1.27 inches wide, smaller than a full-size .45 pistol. It is sometimes called a "mini-Glock," and is intended for easy concealment and for users with smaller hands; the trigger reach is 3mm shorter than the 30 for this very reason.
Ammunition
-
The 30SF uses the .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) round, also known as a .45 auto round. The .45 ACP is an all-around cartridge that packs good "stopping power," which can be a problem for smaller 9mm rounds. The 30SF magazine can hold 10 rounds, plus an extra round in the chamber (sometimes listed as a "10 + 1" capacity). The 30SF can also handle the larger 13-round magazines of the G-21 and G-21SF models.

Construction
-
Glock became famous for creating the "poly gun," a combination of polymer and steel construction that results in a much lighter handgun; it also works more smoothly under difficult conditions. The 30SF follows in this tradition, weighing less than 24 ounces. This is a significant weapon because, unlike a 9mm weapon, it is difficult to make a small gun that handles .45 caliber ammo and retains its accuracy. Glock has done so.
Safety
-
The 30SF employs Glock's patented "Safe Action" trigger system. Safe Action is an automatic safety that prevents the gun from firing if dropped. Pulling the trigger causes Safe Action to disengage so the gun can be fired normally, but on release Safe Action automatically re-engages to prevent accidental discharge. Despite this additional mechanism inside the gun, the 30SF retains a standard 5.5-pound trigger pull weight, so it is no burden to use.
Accessories
-
Glock provides a good standard accessory kit with its guns. The 30SF comes with a plastic carry case, two magazines, a speed loader, a cleaning set and an owner's manual; U.S. models also come with a cable lock. And since the Glock comes equipped with mounting rails, there are a variety of sights, lights and other attachments available to customize the 30SF for a variety of uses.
