These behind-the-scenes professionals can earn above-average wages, according to a July 2010 report by Payscale.com, often topping $40,000 for those with experience.

For every program aired, there is at least one media production technician working to make sure everything is handled correctly. After one year on the job, media production techs are reporting earning between $30,373 and $45,509 a year. After five years, your earnings potential could increase up to $47,500 annually. Media production techs who have at least 10 years of experience in the field are reporting earning up to $61,596 annually.

    Regional Pay

    • The state in the U.S. where you live and work could, in part, determine your annual wages. Their New Jersey counterparts are also being paid well, earning up to $61,342 annually.     • The size of the company you work for could also help to determine your salary range as a media production technician. According to a July 2010 finding by Payscale.com, those professionals employed by companies that have fewer than 10 employees are reporting top earnings of up to $45,000 each year. Media production technicians working for companies that employ more than 200 people are earning up to $52,000 annually and those employed by employers with more than 600 workers are earning up to $54,257 a year.
