While both programs serve fundamentally the same purpose, there are a few differences between the traditional version of the software and the premium version.

Both Norton 360 and Norton 360 Premium are designed to protect your computer against digital dangers such as viruses and spyware. Both programs provide users with one complete year of protection for up to three different computers. Both versions give customers anti-virus, anti-spyware, and bot protection as well as identity and download protection, network monitoring and browser protection.

Both Norton 360 and Norton 360 Premium offer automatic file backup for important files. Selected files will be automatically backed up either to a disc or other storage device, or to an online storage space provided by Norton. The premier version of the program offers users 25 gigabytes of online storage. The traditional version only offers users 2 GB of secure online storage. Files stored online can be accessed from the Web from any computer, as long as it is connected to the Web.

The premier version of the Norton 360 software analyzes the performance of applications on your computer and identifies those that might be decreasing the productivity of your machine. Both versions offer disc cleanup options that will help delete unnecessary files and keep your computer running its best.

The traditional version of the Norton 360 software retails for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $79.99, as of July 2010. The premier version of the software sells for slightly more, at $99.99.
