Hummer Whirling Card Trick
Magic tricks are always a fun way to keep yourself or people around you entertained. The Hummer Card Magic Trick was originally created by Bob Hummer, an American magician who performed the trick to perfection. The Hummer Card Magic Trick makes any flat object about the size of an adult hand appear to float in mid air.

The String

The Hummer Card trick is performed by attaching a piece of string to any playing card. The string being used must be invisible to the audience. The best string to use is fishing wire because it is one of the thinnest strings available and barely visible to the human eye from far away. Fishing wire string is also very strong and doesn't break easily.
Attaching the String

The fishing wire is attached to another object such as a ceiling or piece of clothing being worn. String is normally attached by using scotch tape. If there is an audience present then the magician will attempt to attach the string behind an ear or on a belt.

Floating Object

Many different objects can be choose to float for the Hummer Magic trick. Cards are normally the object of choice for a magician performing the trick. Whatever object is chosen, it must be thin and light enough to be held up by fishing wire.
Fooling the Audience

The magician will ask an audience member to choose a card from a deck, or pull out an object from his wallet. Next the magician tells him to hand over the object, as this occurs the magician attaches the string to the object using scotch tape. The scotch tape is attached so quickly that its unseen by the audience. Double-sided tape is wise to use.
Performing the Trick

The magician begins to spin the card horizontally or vertically while it is between the hands to create a floating effect. The card will spin from the tension created by the string. Once spinning, the magician will pass it from one hand to another, or around the body. It takes much practice to spin the card around the body.
