Seat covers for golf carts are becoming increasingly popular for both golfers and everyday riders. These covers, which come in a variety of styles, can help you stay cooler on hot, scorching days and warmer in cooler weather. They also hide wear and tear. Golf cart seat covers are often constructed with elastic so they fit most carts.
Because most golf cart seats are either vinyl or synthetic leather, the seats can become hot and sticky on summer days or cold in the fall. The seat covers act as a barrier to maintain comfort. The covers are also softer than the original cover, enhancing the comfort level of the golfers occupying the seats.
Golf cart seat covers are made from a variety of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, faux wool, Neoprene (what wet suits are made of) and Sunbrella. Cart covers made with Sunbrella continue to increase in popularity as Sunbrella is durable, stain-resistant and guaranteed not to fade.
Golf cart seat covers come in a variety of styles and patterns, including camouflage, paisley, flowery, plaid, solid and Hawaiian. (Some cover manufacturers will accept custom orders.) The covers are designed to fit most golf carts, which include the three major golf cart retailers today: EZ-GO, Yamaha and Club Car.
Where to Buy
Many big-box sporting good stores such as Dick's Sporting Goods carry these cover and they are also available at online vendors such as eBay, Amazon and Golfsmith. A number of other vendors specialize in golf cart seat covers, such as Seat Covers Unlimited and Cart Cozies. Golf cart covers typically cost less than $100.
For the frugal and thrifty, thick bath towels can be an alternative for golf cart seat covers. The towels can tuck underneath for more security if they are long enough. Bath or beach towels are a good way of staying cool or warm and being comfortable while riding in the golf cart.
