Carnations Made From Ribbon
Carnations made from ribbons never die and are always in season. Making carnations out of ribbons is a relatively easy task for even beginning sewers or seamstresses to accomplish. You can embellish your clothing with these ribbon carnations, use them to make fake boutonnieres for formal events, decorate your home with them or embellish wrapped gifts with them.

Process
-
Ribbon carnations are relatively easy to make. Simply, thread the needle with 9 inches of thread. Tie a knot at the end of the thread. Sew a stitch along one edge a 6-inch long piece of ribbon. Then, push the ends of the ribbon together on the thread so that the ribbon is gathered tightly. Finally, sew the ends of the ribbon together so that the gathered ribbon makes a circle that resembles a carnation.
Clothing Use
-
Carnations made from ribbon are sometimes used to embellish clothing. In many cases, clothing gets old or become uninteresting to its owner. When this happens they can save money by simply revamping their wardrobe rather than purchasing new clothes. Sewing ribbon carnations onto clothes is one way to refashion these old clothes.

Use for Formal Occasions
-
You can also use ribbon carnations in lieu of fresh flowers for formal events. You can pin them to the men’s lapels as makeshift boutonnières. You can also put a bunch of ribbon carnations together to make a bridal or bridesmaid’s bouquet. Use wired ribbon so that you can arrange and manipulate the flowers in a bouquet.
Home Decorative Use
-
You can use ribbon carnations to decorate your home. Sew them to pillowcases, tablecloths or couch pillows. You can also glue them to picture frames, clothing hangers, or fabric shower curtain covers. You can also use ribbon to make lifelike carnations with stems to form an everlasting bouquet in your home. Spray them with flower fragrance
Wrapping
-
You can also use a ribbon carnation to decorate a gift. This is particularly appropriate for a spring birthday, mother’s day or a woman or girl’s gift. Hot glue the ribbon carnation to the ribbon on the gift-wrapping. You can also attach the carnation to a hair clip or pin and pin it to the ribbon. This will enhance the wrapping and provide an additional gift for the recipient.
