Job Duties

  • Quality assurance engineers write product specifications, which are used in inspection and testing procedures to identify defective products. The engineer evaluates the methods used to sample, test or inspect products and makes improvements in the process. A quality assurance engineer develops new inspection and testing procedures for products.

    The quality assurance engineer analyzes inspection and testing data to find areas that require improvement. The engineer uses the information from testing and inspection reports to investigate the cause of defective products. A quality engineer will focus on raw materials, processes or machinery as potential causes of defective products.

    Engineers participate in continuous improvement projects to increase productivity, eliminate scrap and reduce rework operations.

    The engineer in an organization should be familiar with the materials used to build a product as well the final product and its uses.

Education and Qualifications
