Features
-
"Pokemon HeartGold" recreates "Pokemon Gold" in its entirety, but takes full advantage of the updated hardware of the Nintendo DS. In place of the "Start" button, players can use the Nintendo DS touchscreen to navigate menus and manage items and Pokemon when using the in-game PC. Additionally, in somewhat of a throwback to "Pokemon Yellow," your first Pokemon will actually follow your onscreen character. It's more than an aesthetic feature, as the tailing Pokemon will talk to you and even pick up items.
Graphics
-
Every square of the Johto region is the same as it was in the original game. The textures are more detailed, more non-player characters roam the land, and the colors are more vibrant. Wind rustles the grass that contains hidden Pokemon. Oceanside waves produces more visible ripples, and rough waters will knock your vessel (or Pokemon) around when traversing water.

Gameplay
-
Like clockwork, players begin by choosing from one of three Pokemon. After leaving your home town, the game centers around collecting and leveling up various Pokemon, battling other Pokemon trainers for money and bragging rights and battling gym leaders for badges that will eventually grant you access to the Pokemon League. Throughout the game, you will battle Team Rocket, a criminal organization in ruins after the events of "Pokemon FireRed" and "Pokemon LeafGreen." Their agenda is revealed as you progress through the game.
Multiplayer and Wi-Fi
-
Using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Network, players can use their wireless Internet connection to battle other players (limited to two players), chat or trade Pokemon. "Pokemon HeartGold" and "Pokemon SoulSilver" owners can also battle or trade with those using "Pokemon Diamond," "Pokemon Pearl" and "Pokemon Platinum." Local Wi-Fi is supported and is nearly identical to the online component.
Difference Between HeartGold and SoulSilver
-
"Pokemon HeartGold" and "Pokemon SoulSilver" are virtually the same. The only notable differences are the exclusive Pokemon found on each version. The legendary Pokemon--Lugia and Ho-oh--are available in both versions. However, how early on in the game you find either Pokemon depends on which version you're using. In "Pokemon HeartGold," you will find Ho-oh at level 45 and Lugia at level 80.
