Cancun's beautiful beaches and five-star resorts are a perfect backdrop for your wedding.

If you're looking for a beachside location with ideal weather and climate year-round, you should consider Cancun for your destination wedding. This resort city, located on the Yucatan Peninsula, is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Mexico. Many hotels can offer you an all-inclusive package for your wedding, which will make the planning process simple and easy.

  1. Inclusions

    • If you organize your wedding with one of Cancun's all-inclusive resorts, you will usually get all of your food, drinks and activities included in an accommodation package. The wedding packages usually include the legal fees, an officiator and a ceremony location as well as flowers, music, tuxedo rentals and a reception. The options you choose will depend on your budget and your preferences.

    Legalities

    • Non-Mexican citizens who want to have a civil ceremony will be required to provide an original copy of the birth certificates of both the bride and the groom, as well as a copy of each that has been annotated and translated into Spanish by an authorized translator. You will also need blood tests, valid passports, a copy of your visas and four witnesses. The witnesses will need their passports and copies of the passports and will be required to submit their names, ages, nationalities, addresses and occupations. If either of you has been married before, you must present a divorce decree or death certificate of the person you were married to previously. You should plan to arrive at least three days in advance to submit your documents and application, and you will be required to make an oath of your truthfulness.

    Religious vs. Civil Ceremony

    • The only recognized legal ceremony in Cancun is the civil ceremony. If you choose to have a religious ceremony, this must also be accompanied by a civil ceremony before or after the religious ceremony. Brides and grooms who want to have a Catholic ceremony will be required to submit their baptism and confirmation certificates along with passport-sized photos. They will also need permission from the church they are to be married in, two witnesses and prenuptial counseling.

    Other Factors

    • All-inclusive weddings will be an advantage for your guests as you may be able to negotiate a discounted group rate for a certain number of bookings. Your guests can easily fly to the wedding and stay with you at the hotel or resort. You may wish to plan additional functions around your wedding such as a pre-wedding dinner or post-wedding lunch. Your honeymoon can start immediately after the wedding as you are already in the perfect location for a romantic getaway. Alternatively, you can move on to another part of Mexico or a nearby island.

    Hotels and Resorts to consider

    • The following hotels and resorts offer not only all-inclusive accommodation, but also all-inclusive wedding packages: Crown Paradise, Ambiance Villas Kin-Ha, Avalon Baccara & Grand, Barceló Tucancun, Golden Parnassus, Gran Melia, Great Parnassus, Moon Palace, NH Krystal, Oasis Hotels & Resort and Omni Cancun.
