Dallas Triathlon Training
If you are looking for a club or coach to help you train for a triathlon, Dallas has a few places that cater to this. Experienced coaches who have themselves competed in a variety of triathlon events, including adventure races, Ironman races and marathons, regularly organize camps, clinics, group workouts and special triathlon-specific activities for beginners all the way to elite athletes.

Triathlon Events in Dallas

Texas holds several triathlon events throughout the year, such as the Fight For Air Climb, the Urban Dar, the Texas State Championship Sprint Adventure Race, the TriRock Dallas, the Colombia Muddy Buddy Ride & Run Series, as well as off-season and kids triathlon events. Nearby San Antonio, Fort Worth, Houston and Austin also hold their own triathlon races.
Training Clubs and Coaches

A range of community-based triathlon clubs and commercial coaching is available, to cater to various types of athletes, from women's-only groups to children, beginner athletes to elite competitors. The Dallas Sports University offers separate workouts for swimming, cycling and running in addition to camps for each sport, or a combination of all of these sports. Triathlon training, including half and full Ironman and marathons are also offered. Texas Triple Threat, Team Fit2Train, Southern Methodist University, Team Tri-Now and the University of North Texas have similar clubs for endurance sport coaching.

Team Tri-Now

Team Tri-Now in Dallas is run by Frank Cortese, who is a USA Triathlon Certified Coach, Race Official and Race Director. Training can be individualized and includes fitness testing and access to all other group workouts. In addition, some training plans allow the athlete to prepare for specific races. For example, the Blackland Triathlon Training Program is open to all levels of triathletes, including those with no prior race experience. Some meetings are held at the REI Dallas shop.
Triathlon Camps

Triathlon camps are designed for individuals who want to quickly and drastically improve their performance, whether or not they are experienced triathletes. For example, Texas Triple Threat holds camps at Lake DeGray, which is a few hours from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Triathlon Clinics

Fit2Train holds clinics in triathlon events such as open water swimming and sprint training. The swimming training takes place at Lake Ray Hubbard and some training dates will also have bike portions. Texas Triple Threat also offers swim clinics with underwater videotaping of the trainee's strokes, coordination, and other swimming skills, at the Texins Activity Center in Dallas. Running clinics are also held here, while nutrition clinics are held at the Kroger on Frankford Road in Dallas. Dallas Sports University also provides a range of triathlon clinics at the Andy Brown East Park Pavilion.
