Creative Leadership Training
Creative leadership training programs are generally done "off site" at a retreat facility recommended by the training company, or institutions and corporate leaders send their employees, managers and supervisors to these retreats to sharpen their creative leadership skills. The scope of the training ranges from teaching front-line employees how to function creatively in project teams to helping top-level executive sharpen their vision, strategic alignment and management skills.

What Is Creative Leadership
-
Creative leadership emphasizes creative, independent problem solving and decision making as opposed to traditional thinking. Creative leaders have the ability to "think outside of the box" and do it effectively. According to Wisegeek.com, "creative leadership is the concept that leaders who exhibit imaginative and inventive qualities are better able to impact individuals who work underneath them or who look to them for guidance." They can find real and effective solutions to complicated problems that cannot be solved otherwise. For this reason, leaders who can perform and deliver results in original and innovative ways become more effective leaders.
Purpose
-
Because of the fast-paced global economy in which companies have to continuously innovate and create new solutions, creative leaders or creative leadership styles are better suited to the evolving workplace. For this reason, companies are embracing the creative leadership model because they believe it will increase productivity, corporate profits and shareholder value in a time where rapid business change has become the status quo.

Traits of a Creative Leader
-
Creative leaders have many traits, of which the four most important are creativity, passion, sensitivity and self-confidence. Creativity means creative leaders always have new ideas about how to address and solve pressing corporate problems. They are able to communicate and express their creative ideas with passion and conviction in order to gain supporters within the corporate ranks. They also communicate and express their ideas to demonstrate sensitivity to their colleagues and surroundings. And finally, this creativity, passion and sensitivity are wrapped around a package of self-confidence and strength of will necessary to see the ideas come to fruition.
Training Methods
-
In response to the increase demand for creative leadership, many companies send their managers and supervisiors to "off site" leadership training program such as the one offered by the Center of Creative Leadership (CCL). According to the Center of Creative Leadership (CCL), everyone in the corporate hierarchy needs to be trained at some level. For example, they train individual workers how to assert themselves creatively in project teams. They train mid-level managers how to creatively insure the corporate strategy is reflected in everyday work. They train senior-level managers how to strategically and creatively balance short-term and long-term strategic perspectives. CCL provides its training "off site" at a corporate retreat facility, as do most leadership training programs.
