Registered Nurses' (RNs') salaries range from a low of $49,032 in Penascola to a high of $77,499 per year in Fort Lauderdale. For RNs who have studied to be a Certified Nurse Anesthetist, the salary range is much higher: from a low in the Sarasota area of $137,195 per year to a high of $176,158 per year in Fort Lauderdale. The figures for this breakdown of RN salaries for the seven major Florida regions are all as of June 2010. Markets can fluctuate, so they could well be different in the future, just as they have been in the past.

Fort Lauderdale

For the Fort Lauderdale area, the lowest average salary for a Registered Nurse is $53,922 per year. The highest is $77,499, but the middle 50 percent (the large section on a normal curve) make between $59,054 and $71,395. For Registered Nurses who have studied to become Certified Nurse Anesthetists (CNAs), however, the salary range is much larger. The lowest-paid CNAs make an average of $136,404 and the highest $176,158. The middle 50 percent make between $145,504 and $166,312 per year.

Jacksonville

In Jacksonville, the lower-paid RNs make $51,589 per year. The highest-paid make $74,145, and the middle 50 percent make between $56,499 and $68,305 per year. CNAs are, again, substantially better compensated, with the lowest-paid making an average of $130,502 per year, the highest making an average of $168,535, and the middle 50 percent making between $139,207 and $159,115 per year.

In the Miami area, the lowest paid RNs make $52,900 per year. The middle 50 percent make between $57,934 and $70,041, while the highest-paid make an average of $76,029 per year. The lowest-paid CNAs make an average of $133,818 per year. The middle 50 percent make between $142,745 and $163,159 per year, while the highest-paid CNAs make an average of $172,818 per year.

Orlando

The lowest-paid RNs in the Orlando area make an average of $51,344 per year, while the middle 50 percent earn between $56,230 and $67,981 per year. The best-compensated RNs make an average of $73,793 per year. The lowest-paid CNAs make $129,882 per year, while the middle 50 percent make between $138,546 and $158,360 per year.
