The diameter of the sun is around 870,000 miles wide. That is 109 times wider than the earth. It is thought that approximately one million earths could fit inside of the sun if it was hollow. The sun also weights 333,000 times what the earth weighs. The sun has about 98 percent of all of the mass of our solar system.

The surface of the sun is called the photosphere. This surface is around 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The center of the sun is about 27 million degrees Fahrenheit. The sun has dark spots on the surface, called sunspots. These sunspots are the cooler areas on the sun.
