A bachelor's degree in health science prepares the recipient for a wide variety of career options as well as graduate study in a number of fields. To prepare for a bachelor's degree in health sciences, high school students should take biology, chemistry, physics and math courses. Some students will get an associate's degree in a related field prior to working on the bachelor's degree.

A bachelor's degree in health science will require a person to study medical terminology, communications, medical ethics, human resource management, financial planning, health care information systems, budgets, bereavement counseling, statistics and calculus. Other typical courses required include biology, physics and chemistry, as well as nursing, anatomy, radiology, pharmacology, emergency medicine, lab science, and insurance.
These courses will give a student skills in medical records and patient chart-keeping techniques, diagnosis and treatment of medical problems, knowledge of medical practices, ethics and laws, and training for specific careers in health care.

Someone with a bachelor's degree in health sciences can find employment in a hospital as a manager or administrator, in human resources, as an admissions desk manager, or as a hospital records manager.
