Scrum Coaching
Certified Scrum coaches aid Scrum groups and organizations. Originally created for software development, Scrum is a team system implemented to complete complex professional tasks. Scrum coaches work with the ScrumMasters to advance Scrum knowledge, provide insight and leadership in coaching the Scrum system, and aid in increasing successful business results through the Scrum system.

Scrum
-
The Scrum Alliance defines Scrum as a shifting and agile framework that helps in completing complex and multidimensional projects. Originally created exclusively for software development, Scrum has evolved for other project scopes.
There are three main roles within a Scrum: the product owner, who is responsible for the business value; the ScrumMaster, who keeps the team productive; and the team, which completes the task through self-organization.

Responsibilities of the Scrum Coach

A Scrum coach provides guidance to current ScrumMasters to increase Scrum effectiveness, as well as provide further Scrum knowledge and education. Finally, a Scrum coach effectively increases results of a business through leadership in Scrum. According to Improvement Services, a Scrum coach should also act as mentor to the ScrumMaster, eventually passing down all responsibility to the ScrumMaster and the team.
Prerequisites for Becoming a Certified Scrum Coach
-
To become a certified Scrum coach, interested applicants must go through the Scrum Alliance. The Scrum Alliance delineates five prerequisites to being accepted into the certification program: being a certified Scrum professional, demonstrating at least 1,500 hours of Scrum coaching through a comprehensive application, having experience in coaching multiple Scrum teams or organizations, providing two client references that prove skills and experience, and having been active within the Scrum community within the last three years.
Certification
-
If accepted by the Scrum Alliance Board, the Scrum coach certification is valid for three years. To recertify after three years, the Scrum Alliance Board requires that the Scrum coach have obtained 60 professional development units. PDUs are earned through Scrum coaching, professional activities, self-directed learning, education and community involvement.
