In order to continue to draw in customers and remain in compliance with regulatory agencies, companies often hire specialists who are responsible for assessing whether or not products and services are high quality. These experts are highly trained and educated professionals who are called in to assess the work processes of a given company and provide recommendations on how to improve quality.

Many analysts work in the information science field and need educational backgrounds in fields such as computer science, according to CDI. The quality analyst must have previous experience collecting statistical data and maintaining the quality of products or services, according to Wesley Spectrum Services. These analysts need strong analytical skills and must also have communication skills in order to provide recommendations.

      • The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the need for management analysts such as quality analysts is expected to grow by 24 percent between 2008 and 2018. This growth is driven by increasing regulatory standards placed on companies in order to protect consumers.

      • In 2010, the earnings of quality analysts ranged from $50,000 to $79,861. These analysts are paid the most by hospitals, private practice firms, companies and the federal government. They are paid the least by non-profit organizations and state and local governments.
