Google User Agreement
The Google user agreement (also known as a "Terms of Service") specifies how a user can legally use various products from Google (ranging from Web applications to desktop software), as well as declaring what the user can not legally do to the Web application or software program.
Google user agreements for various products (like Google Apps, YouTube, Google Chrome, Blogger, etc.) are similar to each other, with variations between each of them differing due to the specific functions.
-
Universal Google User Agreement
-
The primary Google Terms of Service (sometimes referred to as the Universal Terms) informs you that in order to use any products produced or maintained by Google, you have to agree to Google's policies.
The Google Terms of Service also states that Google can legally terminate or temporarily suspend any product or service for any reason without giving you prior notice. The Google User Agreement declares that Google does have the right to filter content uploaded upon their respective products and services, but that the company does not retain any ownership of any content uploaded upon their respective platforms.
The Google Terms of Service also state that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your passwords, and that you will notify Google immediately if your account on various services is compromised.
Google Apps User Agreement
-
The Google Apps user agreement (or Google Apps Terms of Service) is similar to the Universal Google Terms of Service with the main exception being that it declares the rights between you and other companies marketing their respective services upon Google Apps.
The Google Apps Terms of Service declares that you may not rent, loan, modify or lease any service (or software) within Google Apps, unless you receive written permission from the companies providing the respective services.
Google does declare that if you submit content on Google Apps intended for public viewing, you automatically grant Google a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty free right to use your content for the purpose of promoting Google's respective services.
-
YouTube User Agreement
-
The YouTube user agreement (or YouTube Terms of Service) declares that you are allowed to use the service for personal or commercial reasons, as well as embed YouTube videos upon general websites and blogs online.
YouTube declares that by using the service, you agree not to download any videos displayed upon the site for personal or commercial reasons, unless a "download" link (or something similar) is displayed on the video.
The YouTube Terms of Service states that any videos uploaded to the site are the sole property of the owner, and that you are not allowed to upload any videos that are copyrighted by other individuals or companies without receiving express permission from the copyright holder.
YouTube declares that any videos you upload that violate copyright law will be removed by the company, and if necessary they can terminate your account for violating its terms of service.
Google Chrome User Agreement
-
The Google Chrome user agreement (or Google Chrome Terms of Service) declares that you are allowed to use the Internet Web browsing software for personal and noncommercial reasons, although all trademarked symbols (such as the Google logo) belong to the respective company.
Google does not retain any ownership of any content (whether text, images or video) that you submit through Google Chrome. Google is not legally responsible for damages caused by any program, content, etc., that is downloaded to your computer through the Google Chrome browser.
Blogger User Agreement
-
The Blogger (also known as "BlogSpot) user agreement declares that Google claims no ownership of any content that you submit, post or display upon Blogger that you or a third party service posts.
Blogger states that you retain all copyrights, trademarks or patents that either yourself or a third party submits, although you are solely responsible for enforcing and protecting those rights.
You are not allowed to use software programs to monitor Blogger or to copy content from the respective service, and you are not allowed to market (or sell) the service to other users.
