Glock Handgun Safety
Glock pistols, often seen in films like the remake of "the Fugitive," have a reputation for toughness and reliability. These handguns also have many unique safety features to prevent them from being used or abused by persons who aren't the owners. For gun owners concerned about safety, a Glock may be a solid choice.

Safe Action
-
Automatics all come equipped with safeties. These are mechanisms that, when engaged, prevent the gun from firing. A Glock safe action pistol has a unique safety which is found on the trigger. Most guns have a safety switch on the side of the slide, but a Glock's trigger safety automatically disengages when you go to fire, and re-engages when you release the trigger.
Safety Lock
-
Some Glock handguns have a mechanism on the butt that allows them to be locked. While the gun is locked it cannot be fired and it cannot be disassembled. Glock installs these locks as part of the firearm, and the keys are given to the owner upon purchase.
-
Polymer
-
Glock pistols are built on plastic polymer bodies. This polymer is safer, more shock absorbent and a great deal lighter than traditional guns. Some shooters may not appreciate the plastic material and lack of weight, but others find the additional safety comforting.
Tenifer
-
Tenifer is the name of the surface refinement that Glock puts on the barrels and slides of its pistols. This material cuts glare (making it less likely a shooter will be distracted by sun flashes), and it helps protect the gun against corrosion. This makes it less likely that the gun will malfunction due to outside influences like oxidation.
User's Responsibility
-
Despite all of the Glock's safety features, the firearm's safety boils down to the person using the gun. People using a Glock handgun should never point the gun at anything they aren't going to shoot, and they should wear appropriate eye and ear protection, in addition to following any safety procedures of the range or other location where they're shooting
