About Online CPR Training for Teachers

About Online CPR Training for Teachers thumbnail
CPR certification is required for most educators in the United States.

It is common for most educators and coaches to become certified in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) to maintain their position in the classroom. Teachers interested in becoming CPR certified or re-certified can do so online in a short amount of time, usually in one day.

  1. Accredited or Non-Accredited

    • There are several online websites for obtaining CPR certification for educators, teachers and coaches. However, in order for your certification to be recognized by your employer it must be issued from an accredited CPR program. Emergency University, CPR Today and American A.C.A. all offer online CPR certifications that are valid for two years and are recognized by the American Heart Association.

    Types of Certification

    • When selecting an online CPR course, be aware that there are several types of CPR certifications available. For example, Emergency University offers specialized CPR certifications for teachers, health-care professionals, childcare providers and tattoo artists. Generally, unless otherwise stated, teachers, educators and coaches are required to have basic CPR training only.

    Time Frame

    • Online CPR classes can usually be completed in one day. CPR Today offers online courses that can be completed in a single afternoon. Also, CPR Today allows multi-computer log-in for 30 days while you train for certification, and you can print your certification from any computer immediately after earning it.

    Course Materials

    • The required course materials for online CPR certification for teachers is minimal. During your training you will have access to online texts and computer-based training videos, and you can complete your exam online. Most online certification courses do not require hands-on skills training or access to a CPR dummy in order to grant CPR certification.

    Cost

    • The costs for online CPR certification for teachers, educators and coaches can vary depending on whether the CPR program offers additional medical training above the basic CPR level. Emergency University, which specializes in teacher training, offers its online Teachers and Coaches Training Package for less than $60. CPR Today offers a basic CPR online certification class for less than $25. Additionally, American A.C.A. offers a basic CPR certification for less than $20.
