White's Electronics makes metal detectors.

White's Electronics got its start in 1950 when Ken White Sr. began making Geiger counters. In 1959, White started manufacturing metal detectors for sale. White's Electronics has plants in both the United States and United Kingdom. White's specializes in metal detectors and accessories. The metal detectors offered by White's can be used for treasure and coin hunting, prospecting or security.

  1. Spectra Series

    • One brand of metal detectors that White's offers is the Spectra V3i. This metal detector is used for treasure hunting and finding metal underground. The Spectra offers a reference guide that can be accessed on the screen of the detector. The screen can also be shown in five different languages. Wireless headphones come with this detector, and the frequency can be changed to search exclusively for gold or silver. The Spectra also has programs preset to do specific types of prospecting and hunting.

    E-Series

    • Another series of metal detectors offered by White's is the E-Series. The E-Series comes in six different models--DFX 300, MXT 300, DFX, XLT, MXT and M6. This series of detectors is used for treasure hunting, much as the Spectra. These models all have adjustable settings for different types of metal detecting. They also offer display screens.

    Prizm Series

    • White's Prizm series comes in three different models--Prizm 6T, Prizm 5G and Prizm II. These metal detectors are not as high-performing or sensitive as the E-Series or Spectra. However, these detectors are not as expensive as the others. All three models come with display screens and adjustable settings. These detectors are used for coin and treasure hunting.

    Coinmaster and Beach-Series

    • White's Electronics also offers two series of detectors for more specialized metal detecting, the Coinmaster and Beach-Series. Both series come in two models. As the name indicates, the Beach-Series specializes in searching for metal on the beach and in water. The Beach-Series metal detectors are waterproof and can be adjusted to search specifically for gold or silver. Coinmaster detectors specialize in searching for coins, and the displays are set up to advise what kind of coin has been found.

    Specialty Detectors

    • White's offers various detectors for specialty uses. It makes hand-held wands used for security purposes, such as finding metal on an individual. White's also produces detectors for industrial uses, such as searching for gas lines or water and pipes before digging. In addition, the company makes detectors that can search for metal deeper underground.
