Causes
-
There is no direct cause of back acne. Acne occurs when the sebaceous gland produces oil (sebum) during puberty. This can occur in children as young as 10 and continue until age 40. The sebaceous gland produces oil and sends it through the pores of the skin. Excessive oil causes the acne, according to The Acne Resource Center Online.
Prevention
-
Back acne can be prevented by wearing loose clothing that allows air to flow through. Use a body wash that contains salicylic acid. This prevents acne by cleaning out the pores and pushing out everything clogging the pore. The Teens Health website recommends that a person with back acne shower after physical activity to clean out pores.

Severity

-
Over-the-counter cleansers, body washes and topical creams can be used on back acne. Products containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide will fight acne by cleaning out pores deep under the skin. Body washes that contain exfoliating beads also help clean out pores and fight acne. When-over-the-counter products do not work, a dermatologists may prescribe stronger topical creams or medication to fight severe back acne.
Differences
-
