Craft Organizing & Storage
Craft projects can start small and seem to grow overnight. As you become more experienced in crafting, you will start collecting supplies to have on hand so you don't have to make so many trips to the store to finish a project. So, what do you do with all of your new clutter? Organize it in a crafty way!

Finding Space
-
If you don't have the room in your home to create a full craft room, you can find little nooks and crannies where you can store your supplies. Storage bins that slide under your bed can store items like photos or scrapbook paper. A walk in closet can be a great place to add some shelving and bins for fabric and yarn. If you have an extra drawer in your business cabinet you can also store craft items there. Look for creative ways around your house that you can display the items and even add to your home decor.
Storage Containers and Cabinets
-
If you are lucky enough to have a craft room, implement some cabinets. Within the cabinets you can add craft bins and label the front of the bins according to what is inside. Find storage to hold special shaped pieces such as magazine holders, plastic storage containers, or glass storage bottles and jars. Be careful not to over clutter your shelves, you want your space to be beautiful as well as functional.

Craft Type
-
It helps to organize by craft type. For example, if you have scrapbook supplies and also knit, you want those types of hobbies to be in different areas so that you can find them easily. Separate your crafts into multiple storage units or bins. Dedicate areas of the room to different crafts so that you can pick up a project easily without putting it away.
Color
-
Organizing by color is functional when you have a lot of supplies that are similar and you are looking for that one specific element to add to a piece. This occurs frequently in scrapbooking. Finding a small item, such as a pink button, is easier if you have your supplies organized in such a way that you know what you have to use. Paper is another item that is simple to organize by color. Put each separate color in a different container and label it so that you can find it easily.
Tips and Tricks
-
For tall items such as pens, decorate toilet paper rolls with patterned paper and accessorize with a ribbon. Glue baby food jar lids underneath a shelf to keep buttons or beads together in a way that you can show them off. When you have your jar filled with items simply screw the jar to the lid for easy storage. Take photos of items that you place in plastic storage bins and tape the photo to the front of the bin so that you locate items quickly.
