Airbrush Vs. Standing Booth Tanning
Many people looking for a tan simply don't have the time to lay in the sun for several hours a day. In addition, many don't live in areas with adequate amounts of sun or have an area where it is safe or convenient to do so. Therefore, there are many tanning methods on the market that fore-go the sun. Whether it is an airbrush or a standing booth, these methods will give you the bronzed beach look in a fraction of the time. Does this Spark an idea?

Airbrush Tan
-
This method involves the solution being applied by a technician with a spray tan gun. The client strips down to either a swimsuit, thong or, if comfortable (for both the client and the technician), gets completely naked. Self-administered airbrush tans can be purchased and administered at home as well.
Advantages to Airbrush Tanning
-
People are drawn to the airbrush for several reasons. They can be self-administered, which is great for people who are skittish about undressing in front of strangers. The tan can be applied to certain parts of your body so you can customize the look on just your legs or face, for example. Reshaping the body is also possible, as technicians can spray extra color in certain areas to create a slimming effect. Airbrush tanning is generally cheaper than standing booth tanning.

Disadvantages to Airbrushing
-
Some technicians are not proficient at their skill and the resulting look will suffer. After you get sprayed, the bronze color will rub off on anything it touches. Be careful to avoid white clothes for a few days. Also, the intensity of the orange color can grow unexpectedly sometimes to a level past anything natural or normal.
Standing Booth Tanning
-
In a standing booth tan, you are alone in the booth for a pre-determined amount of time while the tan is applied. You are free to wear whatever clothing you like as it is a private experience. This is a process that can only be done in a tanning salon and there is no at-home option.
Advantages of Standing Booth Tanning
-
Many people like the private nature of a standing booth. The machine always does a perfect, exact job of delivering spray tanning solution, so quality of the tan depends only on the quality of solution and on your skin condition. The booth spray is lighter and more natural than the airbrush so there is less chance of looking unnaturally orange. Additionally, most spray tanning booth salons will use solution with much less bronzer or without any bronzer at all, ensuring there are fewer streaks and stains.
Disadvantages of Standing Booth Tanning
-
The booth tan is generally more expensive than an airbrush. Even though there is less bronzer, the color will still rub off on sheets and towels for several days. Given the booth tan is much lighter, that is sometimes a disadvantage to those seeking a heavy, dark tan.
