First Aid Instructor Certification
In the event of an emergency, the knowledge of CPR and basic first aid may save a life. Many individuals with basic first-aid and CPR knowledge and experience wish to share that knowledge with others. To teach other lay personnel and prepare them for the certification exam, a First-Aid Instructor's certification is required.

Choose An Affiliation For Certiication
-
Prior to attaining certification as a First-Aid Instructor, candidates must decide which organization they wish to represent and be affiliated with. The American Red Cross (ARC), the National Safety Council (NSC) and the American Heart Association (AHA) are the three major national organizations that offer training and instructor certification. Each organization requires prior CPR and first-aid certification. To qualify to work as a First-Aid Instructor, candidates must take the required classroom instruction, work with mannequins and simulators and be able to teach the basic principles of classroom instruction, first-aid procedures for adults and children, cardiopulmonary resuscitation for infants, emergency response methods, automated external defibrillator operation and safety procedures in emergency care.
