Fragrance notes are the ingredients or scents that give perfume its fragrance. When perfume is first sprayed onto the skin, the first notes that appear are called the "top notes." It takes about thirty minutes for perfume to settle into the skin. The notes that can be smelled after thirty minutes are called "middle notes." The heavier notes appear on the skin after one or two hours. These notes are called "base notes."
Vanderbilt Satin Spray perfume has top notes of bergamot, neroli, carnation and pineapple. The middle notes are rose, jasmine and orange blossom. The base notes are defined as spicy oriental florals by Gloria Vanderbilt's perfume house. Spicy oriental florals are vanilla, ambergris and musk.

Vanderbilt perfume and Vanderbilt Satin Spray perfume was created by perfumer Sophia Grojsman for Gloria Vanderbilt. Grojsman also designs perfume for designers such as Estee Lauder, Calvin Klein, Christian Lacroix and Bulgari.
The perfume bottle was designed by Ken Kotyuk. The Satin Spray bottle is tall and narrow. The glass on the bottle is frosted with a slight amber color. Gloria Vanderbilt's logo is on the front of the bottle toward the bottom, and it is has a yellow gold foil overlay.

Vanderbilt perfume and Vanderbilt Satin Spray perfume was designed for women. This is considered a heavy floral scent. Vanderbilt Satin Spray perfume is appropriate for evenings such as dinner dates or special events. It can be worn at outdoor venues as well. Vanderbilt Satin Spray perfume is not a good perfume for tight quarters such as dances, theatres or the workplace.
