How Are Final Exams Taken in Virtual High School?
The virtual school movement may be considered the newest trend in technology and education. This movement encompasses kindergarten through college and university-level classes, including private, charter and public schools. Virtual schools serve the same function and offer the same services as a brick-and-mortar school, including testing and assessment of students. High schools which offer classes through a virtual environment are faced with the decision on how to administer final exams. Online schools used in this article have academic honesty policies in place. Consequences are in place for those students who do not follow these policies.

The final exam at Ontario's Ottawa Carleton E-School must be booked or scheduled after all course requirements, such as assignments, tests, discussions and student journals, have been submitted to the appropriate teacher. After the teacher receives the course requirements, the teacher then contacts the eSchool exam department giving the student approval to take the final exam. Students are supervised when writing their final exams. The students are responsible for finding and booking an approved supervisor for exams. The school allows the students to choose the environment in which to take the test. These environments may include libraries or local schools in which the student has access to a computer and the Internet. The student may not choose a private residence for a test environment.
