Fork Lift Instructor Training
Forklifts are machines used in warehouses and stockrooms to lift heavy objects like boxes and palettes. Instructors who train the employees to use the forklifts go through a certification process to ensure that they know how the machines work and how to use them safely.

Enrolling in a Training Class
-
Find a forklift instructor training course in your area. These are usually one- or two-day classes that cost anywhere between $500 and $1,000, depending on your experience and location.
Requirements
-
Anyone enrolling in a forklift instructor course should be over the age of 18, have no criminal record and have extensive previous experience driving and operating a forklift.
-
Goals of the Course
-
Courses address forklift operating rules and regulations, environmental issues, work environment-related topics, engineering and forklift inspections. The courses usually last all day, including a review session in the morning, a lunch break and homework.
Certification
-
A certificate from a forklift instructor training course is usually valid for two years. Re-certification courses can be taken for a lesser fee after the two-year period and include reviews of important material, rules and regulations.
Tips
-
Many workplaces will offer to pay for the training courses if employees have demonstrated the ability to handle a forklift with precision and speed. If the courses conflict with your work schedule, online certification courses are also available.
