Using Flash
-
Many websites utilize flash to deliver interactive or multimedia content. If you've ever tried to use the Internet with Flash disabled, you've notice that a large portion of many websites you visited were blank. This is because Flash is such a popular, useful tool that most websites with animation, video or interactive menus use Flash to create and deliver those features.
Adobe Flash CS4 Professional vs Flash Player
-
There may be some confusion over what the difference is between Adobe Flash CS4 Professional and Adobe Flash Player. CS4 Professional is the application used to develop and create applications and content to be placed on websites as Flash. Flash player is simply the plug-in used to view said Flash content. It's worth noting that you can't actually view Flash content with CS4 Professional, only create it. There are other applications, such as Adobe Flex Builder, that also let you create Flash content.

3D Graphics
-
Starting with the release of Flash Player 10, Flash is capable of creating, viewing and interacting with 3D content. While advanced creators could previously create 3D with third-party applications, Flash 10 makes it much easier to create 3D objects in motion. According to Adobe, Flash 10 allows you to design something in 2D and then transform the image and animate it in a 3D environment.
Cross-Platform
-
Adobe Flash Player is cross-platform, meaning it works on multiple web browsers. In fact, Flash Player works on most browsers, including Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. According to Adobe, they are partners with many big names, such as Apple, Microsoft, Netscape and AOL. Many of these companies are responsible for the most popular web browsers and, if Adobe is their partner, Flash Player will come pre-installed in their web browser.
Flash Cookies
-
Flash is used by many websites to create "Flash cookies" on your computer. Flash cookies are little files commonly used to customize the user experience of a website. For example, if you log onto a website and are given the option to have the site remember your user name and password, it creates a cookie so that next time the information is entered automatically. Though most websites use cookies to better your experience, some may use them to gather information or track what you're doing online. Adobe Flash Player's settings can be adjusted to customize the level of security involved with cookies, though these settings are different and located in a different location on each web browser.
