Commercial Producer Job Description
Commercial producers are television, film and Internet multimedia producers who are responsible for financing, overseeing and sometimes even creating multimedia products that are meant to be sold to consumers. The word "commercial" often conjures up images of advertisements found in between segments of television programs. But commercial producer can be used to refer to all sorts of producers.

Producers act as entrepreneurs, putting down actual capital or seeking out investments in order to create multimedia that is meant to be sold. They are often responsible for choosing the script, approving of the casting of actors and actresses and determining the budget for the film.
Computer Graphics

Computer design commercial producers work for companies that have animation needs, often for marketing or advertising purposes. These commercial producers work closely with the director of the animation project to determine what will be animated, how it will be animated and how much of a budget the commercial producer will have. These commercial producers must continually update the director on the budget needs and progress of the project, according to LAIKA/House. Many commercial producers work as freelancers and are called in whenever a company needs animation.

Anybody can become a producer. However, commercial producers who are successful usually have a creative sense, interpersonal skills and business management skills. Some commercial producers have a bachelor's degree in film and television production, such as commercial producer Alexander Moon. Computer design commercial producers, on the other hand, must be proficient with 2D, FLASH, Stop Motion, and CG animation processes. They must have excellent organization skills and multi-tasking skills in order to manage multiple aspects of a given project. The commercial producer must have an artistic sense and must be detail-oriented.

Between 2008 and 2018, the need for computer design commercial producers is expected to grow by 13 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The need for computer designers is growing due to the growth of interactive media and applications that utilize this media. The need for producers and directors is expected to grow by 10 percent within this time frame. While the film and television production industry is growing, this industry is highly competitive.

The median earnings for directors and producers in 2008 were $64,430, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The median annual wages for graphic designers in 2008 were $42,400, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $74,660 and the lowest 10 percent earning less than $26,110.
