Revitol vs. Other Wrinkle Creams
There are dozens of products on the market that claim to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, sorting them all out for effectiveness can be a tedious process. One such product line, Revitol, claims to be effective in restoring skin elasticity and reducing wrinkles. However, the key to knowing if a wrinkle cream will work is to read the ingredient list. Does this Spark an idea?

About Revitol
-
Revitol offers a full product line for different skin care needs. The antiwrinkle product line consists of three products that reduce fine lines and wrinkles, smoothes texture and restores skin elasticity. The three-piece kit includes the Anti-Wrinkle Complex, the Anti-Wrinkle Serum and the Moisturizing Cream. The antiwrinkle products contain an active ingredient, Idebenone. Other ingredients of the product are DMAE, vitamin E, vitamin A, Dermox SRC, LipoLight OAP, Skin Tightener ST, purified water, glycerine, Argireline and other ingredients.
Benefits
-
Revitol contains an active ingredient called Argireline, which is considered by Skin Care Connect to be one of the most effective and innovate ingredients used in skin care products. Argireline works to relax facial muscles that contribute to fine lines and wrinkles. The effects of Argireline are similar to Botox injections. One study funded by Lipotec, the manufacturers of Argireline, proved a nearly 30 percent reduction in wrinkles after 30 days of using Argireline. Revitol posts its full ingredient list on its products and website to keep its customers informed.

Considerations
-
Revitol has clinical data to support and prove its results, but some of the peptides and acids used in its product line have yet to be tested for effectiveness. Some of the products contain parabens, which are synthetic preservatives. Parabens are known to cause skin irritation, cause allergic reactions and are known to disrupt the normal hormonal function of the body. They are also suspected--but not yet proven--to be a cause of breast cancer after being discovered in breast tumors.
Common Ingredients in Antiwrinkle creams
-
When comparing antiwrinkle creams, the effectiveness lies in the ingredients. Some ingredients that have resulted in slight to modest improvement in wrinkles are Retinol, hydroxy acids, Coenzyme Q10, copper peptides, kinetin and tea extracts. According to the Mayo Clinic, Retinol is the first antioxidant to be widely used in nonprescription wrinkle creams. It is a vitamin A compound. Hydroxy acids are exfoliants that remove the layer of dead skin and stimulate the growth of new healthy skin. Coenzyme Q10 helps regulate energy production in cells. Copper peptides enhance the healing of wounds and stimulate production of collagen. Kinetin helps reduce wrinkles by retaining moisture in the skin and also boosting collagen production. Tea extracts contain anti-inflammatory properties and are commonly found in wrinkles creams.
Assessing a Wrinkle Cream Purchase
-
The FDA does not evaluate creams or lotions for effectiveness, so taking some points into consideration will help you choose the best antiwrinkle cream. If you purchase something over-the-counter, understand that these creams contain a lower concentration of the active ingredients compared to prescription creams. Also keep in mind that most antiwrinkle creams have not undergone the objective research required to prove benefits. Cost is not as significant as the ingredient list; if a cream costs more, it does not mean it is the most effective. Antiwrinkle creams must be used consistently, typically one to two times a day, to see results. If you discontinue results, skin will return to its original state. Always read the cream label for side effects.
