Narcotics Anonymous is a 12-step program for those in recovery from drug use. The NA website notes that people successfully working the Narcotics Anonymous program will not be using drugs of any type, even alcohol. Narcotics Anonymous is based on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and is one of many recovery programs using those tenets. While NA meetings are places to meet other people recovering from drug addiction, the focus of the meetings is to share experiences about addiction and recovery. They are not a place to look for dates.

At 12 Step Match, for instance, you can set up a profile and search for other members for free, but you have to pay a monthly fee for the "All-Access" membership if you want to send messages to other members. The free option allows you to respond to messages, but not initiate the contact. The cost for All-Access membership at 12 Step Match is $19.95 for one month, with average rates decreasing based on the length of your membership. A 1-year membership is about $75. Love in Recovery has a similar set-up. Recovery Date offers a free limited trial period with monthly fees due thereafter to continue using the site. The amount of the fees were not immediately disclosed but would be upon signing up.

Recovery groups often suggest that new members do not get into an intimate relationship until they have been clean and sober for at least one year, notes 12 Step Match. Love in Recovery includes its own suggestion that site members have at least one year of recovery. Recovery Date goes even further by issuing an actual warning under its Terms and Conditions of Use. The site says people in recovery should get advice from a sponsor or recovery therapist before even using the site or dating.
