What Is Form 1041 Schedule K-1?
Form 1041 Schedule K-1 is a part of Form 1041. Form 1041 is the tax return for estates and trusts. The estate or trust then files Schedule K-1 to each beneficiary. Schedule K-1 will provide the amount of income, deductions and credits the beneficiary received and must report on her tax return for the year.

Form 1041 Schedule K-1 is filled out and filed with the Internal Revenue Service by the person administering the estate or trust. Schedule K-1 is then sent to each beneficiary of the estate or trust so the beneficiary can properly report income taxes.
Errors on Schedule K-1

If there is an error on Schedule K-1 when the beneficiary receives the schedule, then the beneficiary should contact the fiduciary of the estate or trust. The fiduciary is then responsible for correcting the error and amending Schedule K-1. The beneficiary should not make any changes to his Schedule K-1.

Part 1 of Schedule K-1

Part 1 of Schedule K-1 displays information on the estate or trust. This includes the name and address of the trust and the estate or trust's employer identification number.
Part 2 of Schedule K-1

Part 2 of Schedule K-1 provides the information of the beneficiary. This information includes the beneficiary's identification number, such as a Social Security number, address and whether the beneficiary is a domestic or foreign beneficiary.
Part 3 of Schedule K-1

Part 3 of Schedule K-1 is the amount distributed to the beneficiary from the estate or trust. This includes any income, deductions and credits that pass from the estate or trust to the beneficiary. These numbers are then reportable on the beneficiary's tax return for the year.
