What Is an IRS Form CP 575?
An IRS Form CP 575 is the notification form the Internal Revenue Service uses to send a unique entity employer identification number (EIN), also known as a federal tax identification number. Form CP 575 is useful for identifying your business in transactions, when needed. If you need to, you can photocopy the original form, but you cannot get a duplicate from the IRS.

Several different types of business models that can be formed in the United States, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations and limited liability corporations. Most businesses are required to have an EIN to file and pay taxes as a business and to conduct other business transactions. A business entity does not have to be an employer to get a tax number.
Once you or your business entity applies for an EIN, the IRS processes the request and assigns a unique number. The IRS Form CP 575 is then issued as a record of your EIN and business identity.
