Job Summary

A lead analyst is primarily responsible for the development, presentation and support of agricultural commodity supply forecasts. Also, a lead analyst must configure, install and maintain servers, monitor the servers for performance and availability and maintain current OS and path levels on all servers and clients.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a lead analyst includes the management of an analyst team, developing appropriate methodologies, preparation of weekly reports and to provide technical supervision of questions pf analysis to data analysts. Also the lead analyst must provide training to others and coordinate the work of data analysts to ensure a timely issuance of products reviewed by other analysts.

Qualifications

A lead analyst must have a graduate degree. However, a PH.D is preferred in geography, anthropology, ecology, environmental studies or a related field. Also, a lead analyst must have the ability to manage multiple analytical work flows. Five years of relevant work experience in seismic analysis and familiarity with interactive computer analysis systems is required as well as excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Lead analysts must have planning and organizing skills and work consistently with the strategic goals to identify priority activities and assignments. They must also have very good skills in communicating with people from different ethnic groups, have excellent interpersonal skills, have the ability to keep developments and technologies shoulder to shoulder and have the ability to make the appropriate decisions as a lead analyst.

Salary

A lead analyst can make anywhere between $63,000 and $94,000 as of 2010. However, the average salary for a lead analyst is about $76,806. The experience and training you have could determine your salary.

Work Environment

The work environment for a lead analyst is normally in an office. The environment is professional yet empowering. Lead analysts normally control the energy in the office and are supposed to uplift, motivate and inspire their teams.

Staff Management

As a lead analyst, many tasks are required such as taking an active role in educating others, making sure team members provide accurate information for projects, coordinating and setting up machines for new staff, making sure team members follow the standards of the job, review the code and make sure coding practices have been followed properly.
