Flight attendants assist passengers on flights daily.

Flight attendants do more than fluff pillows and push a drink cart. They are a vital part of the aircraft team. Flight attendants are experts in the field of customer service and possess motivational and diplomacy skills. If you enjoy frequent travel, interactions with a variety of people and thrive in a fast-paced environment, a career as a flight attendant could be for you. There are several online programs for flight attendant training, so even a busy work and family schedule will not prevent you from pursuing the dream. Classes are self-paced, and six months is the typical program length.

  1. Course Delivery

    • Courses are self-study so students can go at their own pace. Quizzes are given at the end of each section and a final exam is taken at the end of each course and at the end of the program.

    Types of Courses

    • Students take courses in airline first aid, dealing with uncooperative passengers, proper use of the public address system and customer service. Students also learn about the various aircraft on which they will be working.

    Interaction with Other Students/Faculty

    • Online courses have message boards for students to post questions to senior attendants about coursework and the airline industry. Students can also talk to other students enrolled in the programs.

    Course Completion Award

    • Upon successful completion of the chosen course, students receive a certificate of completion via email. Students can use this certificate as part of their application process.

    Inflight Institute

    • Inflight Institute offers several certificate programs and specific aviation programs. The CT201 program is for students who want to work for regional, corporate or charter companies and airlines and attend on aircraft with a single attendant. CT301 is for students who want to work for larger national or international airlines or charter companies with multiple attendants and crew, and CT401 focuses on international airlines and charter companies which operate large multi-row aircraft.

Students learn the policies and procedures of offering customer service to passengers on the Dash 8-100 aircraft, Boeing 737 and the Airbus A330. Pricing as of 2010 is $166.95 USD or $205.21 CDN for the CT201 course, $199.95 USD or $241.44 CDN for the CT301 course and $225.95 USD and $272.83 CDN for the CT401 course.
