The Ameristar Hotel & Casino is about seven miles east of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The city is on the Kansas border in western Missouri and is on the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas rivers. The city sits opposite of the border of Kansas City, Kansas. The hotel was named Missouri Gaming and Travel's "Favorite Casino in Missouri" in 2008 and the "Best Overall Hotel Casino in Missouri" for 2007 by Casino Player Magazine and Strictly Slots Magazine, according to the Kansas City tourism website.

Ameristar includes the Star Pavilion, which is a theater with more than 1,300 seats. It features live entertainment that includes music and comedy acts. Depot No. 9 is in a historic Pullman railroad car near the casino's entrance and has live music that can include blues, country or rock music.
