Flovent offers several benefits for felines and pet owners alike. Thanks to the creation of a product known as AeroKat, developed by Trudell Medical International, administering doses of Flovent to cats is typically rather easy. If AeroKat is not available at your veterinarian's office, it can easily be ordered online. The AeroKat device consists of a mask designed to fit the feline face and a chamber that firmly attaches to the Flovent inhaler. After placing the mask over the animal's face, spray the Flovent inhaler only once. Leave the mask on the cat's face until it has taken 10 to 15 breaths, allowing the full dosage to be inhaled.

Flovent is not without its possible side effects, though most are considered mild in nature. A condition known as contact dermatitis may occur, which consists of itching and discomfort. Coughing is normal during the first few days of use. If coughing persists, contact the prescribing veterinarian.

Flovent takes seven to 10 days to reach full effectiveness in felines. The medication should only be administered when the mask is properly secured over the cat's face, which includes completely covering both the nose and mouth and ensuring an overall snug fit. This allows pet owners to be aware of the remaining amount of Flovent and schedule refills in a timely fashion.
