Information on Boxer Bulldog Puppies
Boxer bulldog puppies–also called valley bulldogs or bull-boxers–are a cross between a boxer and a bulldog. Boxer bulldogs are referred to as hybrid or designer dogs. Hybrids are not a breed, but rather the cross between two purebred dogs whose lineage is known. They are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, but they are recognized as bull-boxers by the American Canine Hybrid Club and the Designer Dogs Kennel Club.

The origin of the boxer bulldog is thought to track back to the Annapolis Valley in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Hence the name valley bulldog. This hybrid can be traced to as early as the mid-1900s. Because these dogs are not purebreds, they are not subject to the same rigorous standards. This has caused some controversy in recent years, as some breeders attempt to label dogs as boxer bulldogs, valley bulldogs or bull-boxers, when in reality they are not.

Because they are hybrids, boxer bulldog puppies can have varying characteristics. In general, they will grow into a medium-sized, muscular dog with a broad head, chest and shoulders. They are usually thick dogs with large feet and a short, stumpy, or corkscrew, tail. Their fur is short and can be brindle, black, white, tan, fawn, red or any variation of these colors. They will also likely have a mild or severe underbite.

Like all mastiffs, a boxer bulldog puppy needs an owner who is willing to be a dominant pack leader. If allowed to do so, the puppy will try to assume this role, which can lead to major behavioral issues. It is also imperative that these puppies are socialized and enrolled in obedience training at an early age. The boxer bulldog puppy is intelligent and has a great temperament. If properly raised, it will make an excellent family companion dog.

Boxer bulldog puppies are strong, energetic and playful. The ideal home is one with a yard, but they can be successful apartment dogs as long as they are taken on daily walks and have frequent and vigorous indoor play sessions. They have strong jaws, so they need plenty of heavy-duty chew toys and nylon bones.

Boxer bulldogs have folds in their skin and around the tail area that are prone to infection, and must be kept clean and dry. Additionally, these puppies are susceptible to skin irritation and allergic reactions, and need to be evaluated by a veterinarian if symptoms occur.
