Description of Adobe Photoshop Elements 6
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 is a basic consumer level photo editing and graphics application. It is essentially a trimmed down version of Photoshop. While it does not have the full capabilities of Photoshop, it costs considerably less, which makes it preferable for some users. Photoshop Elements 6 is divided into different function areas, where the tools are set up to perform that overall function.
-
Organize
-
The "Organize" section lets users have all their photos and projects available in a single window for preview. On first use, it lets users select those image and folders already on the computer that they want to include.
Edit
-
In the "Edit" section users can make repairs or changes to images. This is divided into "Quick Edit," "Full Edit" and "Guided Edit" and the program helps users through the editing process.
-
Create
-
In the "Create" area, they can use the tools to create new images, from web page graphics to greeting cards and business logos. While Photoshop Elements 6 does not a a shape based "Pen" tool like Photoshop, it does have a useful "Cookie Cutter" function for creating various preset shapes.
Share
-
The "Share" area is where users can create email attachments, online albums and print their images. They can also create PDF sideshows or burn images to CD.
Tool Enhancements
-
Many of the tools in Photoshop Elements 6 have been improved over the previous version. The "Photomerge" utility, that was previously used to create panoramas from several images, now has a "Group" function that lets users combine the best aspects from several image to make a perfect one. There is also a new feature for automatically converting a color image to black and white that lets the user pick from a variety of options.
