Levels in Kickboxing
Kickboxing is a Japanese combat sport and exercise routine. Kickboxing utilizes similar punching combinations and techniques to boxing, but also employs kicking techniques. Kickboxing teaches self-defense and offensive fighting, but also provides cardiovascular training, muscle toning and weight-loss. Individuals from all backgrounds can train or compete in kickboxing. Kickboxing has no traditional Martial Art belt system. However, Double Dragon Studios notes recreation, entry, novice, intermediate and advanced as the levels in Kickboxing. Does this Spark an idea?

Recreation/Beginner
-
Learn self defense AND tone your body! Kickboxing is not solely for competition. As Double Dragon Studios explains, the recreation level focuses on effectively getting in shape, and all individuals train at their own pace and skill. Recreation training guarantees good cardiovascular conditioning, but can also tone muscles and sculpt the abdomen. According to Milwaukee MMA, the recreation level teaches the fundamentals of kickboxing, emphasizes correct movement and focuses on power. Recreation is all about working out and having fun, which is suitable for children and adults of all ages.
Entry
-
According to Milwaukee MMA, beginners can naturally pursue competitive training, once they learn the basics. The entry level teaches the science of combat, which Milwaukee MMA defines as defensive tactics, ring strategy, striking combinations and advanced training drills. Milwaukee MMA notes the entry level focuses on offensive and defensive combat techniques, and especially emphasizes counter techniques. Similar to recreation, the entry level utilizes heavy pads in training. However, students also participate in partner-based, non-sparring drills.

Novice
-
Optional sparring puts the 16 Oz. Gloves to work! The novice level also focuses on defensive tactics, ring strategy and striking combination. At the novice level, students will polish their existing defense, offense, strategy and combos, as well as learn new techniques and strategies. The work out is still fast and effective, but sparring really distinguishes the novice level from the entry level. Milwaukee MMA explains that sparring is purely optional, but it helps improve a student's techniques, as well as insures a better workout. According to Milwaukee MMA, sparring at the novice level is meant to be fun and safe, but effective in a student's growth.
Intermediate
-
Sparring works wonders. Once a student perfects certain techniques and strategy, the student is ready for high-level training. Intermediate training doesn't require all students to compete outside of training. All students can spar in gym-based exhibition matches. However, students who want to compete outside the gym will receive the necessary training to master various Kickboxing skills. Milwaukee MMA explains that intermediate training whips its students into championship shape, improves sparring abilities, incorporates running and fighter conditioning drills and focuses on defensive and offensive Boxing.
Advanced
-
Champions are bred. An advanced-level kickboxer competes at the highest level. The advanced kickboxer is proficient in a majority of kickboxing techniques, combos, strategy, movement and timing. According to Milwaukee MMA, the advanced level teaches the most advanced techniques and combos in kickboxing. Milwaukee MMA cites one-on-one padwork, heavy bag training and running as the basis for conditioning. Milwaukee MMA also notes that advanced training concentrates heavily on sparring, as well as offensive and defensive technique drills. Advanced level training breeds champions.
