The Norwegian Dawn---owned and operated by the Norwegian Cruise Line---is a cruise ship that features many modern amenities. It normally sails from Manhattan to Bermuda during the summer season, and Canada & New England in the fall. The cruise-liner is one of the newest and most popular ships in the world.

History

The Norwegian Dawn was originally made for the Star Cruises Company and was intended to enter service with the name "SuperStar Scorpio," but was given to the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), a Subsidiary of Star. It was first put into service in 2002. Norwegian Dawn has the distinction of being the first Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) vessel to utilize hull art.

Technical Specifics

The Norwegian Dawn is a very large ship--with a crew size of over a thousand. The ship also holds over 2,200 passengers and weighs over 91,000 tons.

Dining

There are many different places on the ship for dining. These include the Aqua Main Restaurant, Salsa Tapas Bar and Bamboo-A Taste of Asia, which serves Pan Asian cuisine from Japan, China and Thailand. It also has a sushi and sashimi bar.

Fitness and Sports

Guests can play basketball, as well as run on a track or treadmill within the cruise ship. Yoga classes are also available to passengers.

Youth Activities

NCL has a Kid's Crew Program that provides kids of all ages the opportunity to socialize and play together while on-board their vessels. The time schedule for these activities includes the first hour during the early morning, two afternoon hours, and the final Kid's Crew hour at the end of the day.

Teen Activities

For teens, there is a Teen Center, where they can socialize with other guests of their age group. Teens can play games like air hockey and foosball, as well as Wii games within the Teen Center.

Entertainment

There are different facilities for entertaining guests on-board the Norwegian Dawn, including the Stardust Theatre, a cinema and an auditorium for shows. The latter has a two-stage main show lounge and accommodates over a thousand people.
