Removing a Danze Faucet

Danze manufacturers faucets designed for use in bathrooms and kitchens. A Danze faucet's mounting hardware locks the faucet body in place; tightening the hardware set's locking bolt applies pressure to the bottom of the countertop, which pulls the faucet body down until it rests against the countertop's surface. All of the water-supply pipes connect to the faucet body underneath the countertop. A plumber must disconnect all water-supply tubes and loosen the mounting hardware before removing a Danze faucet.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 Adjustable Wrenches

  • Bucket

Step 1

Turn the handles of the Danze faucet's water-supply valves counterclockwise until the valve handles touch the valve backstop. Most Danze faucets use two water valves: one for the hot water and one for the cold water. Danze pot fillers use one water valve. The water valves, located in the cabinet under the faucet, control the water flow to the individual faucet, letting a plumber work on the faucet without turning off the home's main water valve.

Step 2

Turn on the Danze faucet's handle, releasing the water in the faucet body. Wait for the water to stop dripping out of the faucet body's spout before continuing.

Step 3

Position a bucket on the cabinet floor under the Danze faucet.

Step 4

Place one adjustable wrench on a water-supply valve's body and grip the Danze water-supply tube's pipe fitting with a second adjustable wrench. Hold the valve still, using the adjustable wrench for leverage, and turn the water-supply tube's pipe fitting counterclockwise with the second adjustable wrench. Pull the pipe fitting off the water valve and drain the residual water in the faucet's water-supply tube into the bucket. Repeat this on the second water-supply tube, if applicable.

Step 5

Squeeze the clip holding a bathroom faucet's trip lever lift rod to the sink drain's trip lever and pull the rod off the lever, if applicable. Squeezing the V-shaped clip releases the lift rod. Kitchen faucets do not have a trip lever or lift rod.

Step 6

Turn both of the Danze faucet's locking bolts counterclockwise, using an adjustable wrench to turn the bolts. The bolts press the mounting hardware against the bottom of the countertop. Once the locking bolts release the mounting hardware, slip the hardware away from the faucet body.

Step 7

Lift the Danze faucet out of the countertop's faucet hole.
