The Difference Between Basebal Cleats and Soccer Cleats
Soccer and baseball are two sports in which wearing a cleated shoe is recommended. Soccer is often played in less than optimal conditions, with wet or slippery surfaces, so the cleats on the bottom of the shoes aid in keeping a player on his feet. They also help a player to change directions quickly and run with confidence.
Baseball players wear cleated shoes so that they can also run quickly in the outfield, take off at a dead run on the base paths or throw the ball with confidence. Since there are turns involved in running the bases, cleats will help the base runner stay on the right path.
Soccer shoes can be worn in baseball games, but it is not recommended that baseball shoes be worn for soccer.

Baseball Cleats

Digging in for the throw Baseball shoes have cleats all around the edges of the shoe and on the toe. The cleat in the toe is used by players when they throw and bat. A cleated toe will allow a player to step and dig the foot into the ground for a firm footing and to easily make a throw or bat. The toe cleat also aids in running, but it is primarily utilized for throwing or batting.
Types of Baseball Cleats
-
There are several types of cleats, depending on the age and skill level of the player. College and professional athletes use metal cleats that will dig into the ground very deep. Younger players are not allowed to wear metal cleats; they must wear molded plastic cleats. Sliding into the bases can pose a danger to a baseman if the runner has metal cleats on, and the skill level of a younger player is not such that he can always avoid the cleats. There are also shoes that have removable cleats so that they can be changed, depending on the weather and field conditions..

Soccer Cleats
-
Soccer cleats are similar to baseball cleats except they do not have the toe cleat. They are lightweight and close fitting so that the player can easily maneuver on the field in the shoes. The cleats on the bottom of soccer shoes enable quick directional changes or sure footing in less-than-ideal field conditions

Different Types of Soccer Cleats

Soccer cleats also come in metal and molded plastic options, depending on field conditions and the weather. Most players use molded plastic cleats for soccer. It is always advisable to check with the local league to find out which type of cleats are allowed or required for play.
Cleats are not Interchangeable
-
Soccer cleats could be used for baseball but it is not recommended that baseball cleats be used in a soccer game. Soccer players play with their feet, kicking the ball, and cleats on the toe of a shoe could present a real danger to other players. Soccer is a very physical game with much contact among the players, and the chance of being kicked is high. Baseball cleats should not be worn for this reason.
